Attention to Dog owners
Dogs are not allowed in our suites or double with private facilities but are welcome in our standard double rooms, standard twin/superking room and deluxe double rooms only.

The Royal Oak Inn offers 4* Accommodation in the heart of Exmoor with access directly onto the Moor.

All rooms were refurbished in May 2019 under new family run management & offer a host of facilities. Each of our 8 individually designed rooms have modern facilities including Sky TV & Wi-fi.

All standard rooms & our Deluxe Double offer showers over baths in spacious bathrooms with toiletries.

All suites are on our top floor and offer stunning views over Exmoor. They have seating areas, with Nespresso machines, mini bars and spacious rooms. These rooms also have En-suites but due to beams & eves have baths with shower attachments. These rooms also have i-pod docking stations.

All rooms have iron & ironing boards, hairdryers, direct dial telephones along with tea & coffee making facilities. Children are welcome to stay also.

At The Royal Oak we pride ourselves on offering relaxing rooms in which you can unwind at the end of the day.

Price includes Bed & Breakfast and are based on two people sharing.

Doggies are £9 per dog per night (Capped at £36 max charge for 1 dog & £45 for 2 dogs.)

Cots are £15 per room per night. Z-Beds are £40 per room per night. These items will only fit into our deluxe or superior rooms due to space.

Wifi is available throughout the whole building but please bear in mind it may not be the speeds you might be used to!

Our superior suites have slight height restrictions within the bathrooms due to the age and quirkiness of the building. With consideration to this, these rooms have baths with shower attachments due to the restrictions.

*additional charges would apply For single night stays a deposit of £50 is required to confirm a reservation. For stays of 2 or more nights a deposit of the first night room rate will be payable to confirm a reservation. Free cancellations may be made up to 7 days before the date of stay. If a deposit has been paid it will be returned in full. We are unable to return any deposits for cancellations made within 7 days of the date of stay. Check in is from 4pm to 9pm on the day of your arrival. Check out is by 10.30am. Late check in and late arrival must be made by prior arrangement. Dogs are not allowed to be left in bedrooms at anytime. Any damage or soiling will be charged. Dogs are welcome in all areas at all times.

Covid-19 Update

In light of the latest government restrictions when you visit, there will be a few more changes again. Regrettably, we're currently not accepting bookings from people who are from areas where local lockdowns or restrictions have been enforced.

  • 1. You must wear a mask at all times except when seated at your table. This includes going to & from the toilet and moving around the premise. Masks are available to purchase if you forget your own.
  • 2. It will continue to be table service only. Staff will be waiting on tables and taking orders. Please do not approach the bar when you have been seated.
  • 3. No more than 6 people at a table. Please do not move tables and chairs as these have been placed to comply with distance rules.
  • 4. We will be open from Midday until 10pm. Food will be available from Midday until 8pm. Last orders for drinks will be 9.30pm.
  • 5. All customers need to be off of the premise by 10pm. Residents can take any drinks to their rooms if ordered before 9.30pm
  • 6. As we have always done, tables will be sanitised between use and the premise checked/cleaned throughout the day.
  • 7. Please download the NHS Track & Trace App. Our QR posters will be on display throughout the premise for you to scan. If you do not have a smart phone, waiting staff will take your details before taking your order.
